The Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association (The Association) was established in 1948. For more than half a century, the Association works hand-in-hand with Ruttonjee Hospital and Grantham Hospital in prevention and treatment of tuberculosis, chest and heart diseases. In recent years, the Association also provides elderly home services and health promotion services.
In the Policy Address 2005-06, HKSAR Government announced that three new Chinese medicine clinics would be established under the public health system. And one of the three would be set up in Tang Shiu Kin Hospital. As the founding association of Ruttonjee Hospital (the management of Ruttonjee Hospital and Tang Shiu Kin Hospital merged in 1998) and in response to the Chinese medicine policy and with the Association’s mission of diseases prevention, the Association collaborated with the Hospital Authority and the University of Hong Kong to establish “The Hong Kong Tuberculosis Association Chinese Medicine Clinic cum Training Centre of the University of Hong Kong”. Working closely with Hospital Authority and the University, the Clinic is now offering the community excellent out-patient services and serving as a training centre for the Chinese medicine students of the University.
